Bio for Joyce Gleeson Adamidis

When Joyce left her native California 30 years ago, she ran away to sea and signed on to a life on board cruise ships. In the contracts that followed Joyce rapidly increased her knowledge and versatility by wearing many name tags: identifying herself as, “Casino Cashier”, “Social Hostess”, “On Board Lecturer”, “Purser”, “Assistant Cruise Director” and “Cruise Director”.

In recent times, she added “Master’s Wife” to her expanding list of titles and “Adamidis” to her passport when she married a Greek Captain. Together, they raised their son onboard to learn the ways of the sea.

Throughout her years onboard, she wrote her biography, effectively named “If I Were Not Upon the Sea” (Under the Captain’s Table), she was a Featured Columnist for CruiseCritic.com and frequent contributor for Steve and Patty Tanenbaum’s four seasonal Newsletters and Blog (ctnwinter2011.blogspot.com).

We welcome Joyce onboard to spearhead the Off Radar Cruise News Team to create articles, add conversation and generate unique interests in the travel community. Joyce is open to email communications with Off Radar readers. Feel free to request articles, ask questions or vie for a topic of curiosity and awareness.
